Weekly Trailers

Weekly Trailers Compendium

Suburbicon PosterI have to say this for the Coen Brothers you definitely know when it's one of their movies, even when it's directed by someone else - in this instance George Clooney.  As always, the trailer shows that Surbubicon has all the traits we've come to expect - A strange story told in their inevitable style with diverse characters played by a strong cast.  I became a Coen fan with Raising Arizona and have suffered through Serious Man, so I will most certainly give this a viewing as they've had more hits than misses... and a do like a cracked, twisted, and slightly strange take on life.

Message from the King PosterThe NetFlix Film Message From The King looks like a run of the mill revenge flick if a tad dark and over-brooding.  I do love a good revenge movie though this one isn't ticking any of the right boxes for me.  Even though the cast includes Luke Evans, Chadwick Boseman, and Alfred Molina there doesn't appear ti be anything new to hook me into view this film.  The poster appears to be the best thing about this flick.

Flatliners Poster
The trailer to Flatliners sends a cold shiver down my spine... and not for the right reasons.  Even though I wasn't a great fan of the original movie this remake adds to my thoughts that if it ain't broke don't break it.  Gone is the great cast of the original to be replaced by some okay, though not excellent talent.  Though I am only going off this trailer so it could all be down to the director, who doesn't seem to have brought anything new to this horror flick.  If anything this new version appears watered down.  I really don't see the point in a remake if you cannot make it as good as or even better than the original; there was scope in the original for it to have been far better and much scarier than the released version.  So this looks deathly pale in my eyes... and the "It's a good day to die," line has lost all its power that Keiffer gave to it.  I won't be queueing to watch this one.

It PosterAs for the IT trailer - IT smashed IT.  The trailer is so spot on right from the narration beginning to the acting section of it.  This has given my goosebumps goosebumps.  I loved the original TV Mini Series and this trailer has me quivering in anticipation to watch the full movie.  I hope that the writers and directors do not wait to see how this plays in the cinema before starting the second part.  This trailer has the feel of what a King movie should be.  It would be a shame not to give the fans and King probably the best movie adaptation of one of his books to date.  This should be on every Stephen King and Horror Movie fans Must Watch list.  Cannot wait.  I wanna float too!!!

The Vault PosterThe Vault has got my interest piqued.  Though the trailer is brilliant at not giving anything away except that during a bank robbery the manager points the robbers to the old vault in the cellar as that's where the money is kept... except there's something a lot darker and nastier than greenbacks in The Vault.  By giving the viewer the basics and hiding the realities it gets the imagination working to fill in the blanks.  I just hope to reality in the film is better than my imagination or this film will flop with me.  Though based on this trailer I wanna see this movie - though I may wait for the BluRay.

Detroit PosterDetroit looks like it could be one hard hitting and political movie if the blurbs in the trailer are correct.  The biggest selling point of this movie for me is the Director Kathryn Bigelow, whose work I have admired over the years.  I respect that she has never shied away from any subject, no matter how controversial.  That appears to be the case here too, as one of the blurbs state that this is the truth behind the Detroit Rebellion Killings.  This is one movie I want to watch.

LBJ PosterOh, My God!!!  That's Woody Harrelson as Lyndon B Johnson.  Ever since Harrelson walked into Sam's Boston Bar in Cheers as Woody, I knew he was an actor to watch as he had the character down pat and really added a dimension to the show.  It's nice to see him stretching his acting wings once again in a character driven role... and what a role.  Judging by this trailer it looks like Rob Reiner may have another hit and there should be Oscar nominations abound from this film.  Love the toilet scene and as he says, "How could anybody not like him(?)"  I am really looking forward to this movie.

Brad's Status PosterAmazon Studios have Ben Stiller being Ben Stiller (which he does so well - I really don't think anybody else could portray Ben Stiller better... except, maybe Benedict Cumberbatch...) portraying Mr Everyman in a life affirming movie...  This seems to be pretty standard fare for Mr Stiller recently.  In the trailer for Brad's Status, I can see overtones of Walter Mitty, both in Stillers portrayal and movie atmosphere.  This isn't a bad thing as I was more than pleasantly surprised by his remake.  Note to the Flatliners team - this is how you do a remake... make it better and have its footing in modern day issues.  So if this is half as good as Mitty I'll be a happy bunny.  Though I may wait for BluRay or television to watch it; I won't sign up to Amazon to watch.
